Grazing table vs buffet

They can look similar, but they do different jobs. Here's how a grazing table and a buffet compare.

The short answer

Choose a grazing table for a striking, relaxed centrepiece that guests pick at over a few hours. Choose a buffet when guests need a proper meal, especially hot food. A grazing table can also start the party before a buffet or dinner.

What's on a grazing table

Our Antipasti and Cheese Grazing Table has prosciutto, Milano salami, chorizo, marinated olives, mature Cheddar and Brie. The Signature table (£25.00 per person plus VAT) steps up to Parma ham, aged Manchego and burrata with basil oil, and adds a seasonal dessert.

What's on a buffet

Our Hot and Cold Table combines hot dishes like chicken katsu curry or beef bourguignon with salads, savoury bites and desserts. It's a full meal.

Presentation

A grazing table is the one people photograph. It works as a centrepiece at weddings, christenings and launches. A buffet is about feeding everyone well.

Use both

Many hosts start with a grazing table while guests arrive, then serve a buffet or dinner later.
